HH General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visits Yahsat HQ

His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, visited Yahsat's headquarters and satellite control center in Al Falah, Abu Dhabi.

His Highness was accompanied on the tour by H.E. Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, CEO and Managing Director of Mubadala, and Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, Chief Operating Officer of Mubadala and Chairman of Yahsat. The delegation was received by Yahsat CEO Jassem Mohammed Al Zaabi, members of Yahsat's senior management and representatives of the UAE Armed Forces.

During his visit, His Highness made the first voice call transmitted through Y1A using one of the satellite ground terminals delivered to the UAE Armed Forces by Yahsat. His Highness was then taken on a tour of the Yahsat facility where he received a briefing on the project status and viewed the control room where UAE National engineers will be controlling satellite Y1A, which launched successfully into space on April 23, 2011.

The briefing included an overview of Yahsat's military communications capabilities, as well as a review of the launch process and Y1A's progression into its fixed orbital position. His Highness expressed pride in UAE citizens, who have proven their competence and efficiency in executing and managing national, particularly high-tech, mega projects, which reflects the trust and confidence of the UAE leadership in the citizenry.

Yahsat is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company, a strategic investment arm of the Government of Abu Dhabi. Yahsat will play a pivotal role in contributing to the development of a world-class information and communications technology infrastructure in the UAE and the greater region.
